Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy refer to the usage of chemical to prevent cancer cells
from dividing and spreading and is usually recommended for advanced
stage patients who may no longer react to hormone therapy.
This treatment can be done in the form of injection to the vein or oral
medication.
Certain drugs have been approved by the FDA to suppress growth of
prostate cancer but more often than not, doctors will prescribe
'off-label' drugs - drugs that have are FDA-approved for other types of
cancer but is not specifically targetted to help prostate cancer.
Although its effect has not been formally acknowledged, much success
has been observed from the use of such drugs.
