While prostatectomy and radiation therapy remain the usual treatment for prostate cancer, more treatment choices are increasingly available for men.

Biology therapy refer to a teatment that manipulate the patients own immune system to combat cancer. Cancer fighting substances can be manufactured in the lab or naturally to reinforce it's defense against prostate cancer. It is also known as biotherapy or immunotherapy.

Cell Freezing Treatment for Prostate Cancer

The freezing of cancer cells is known as cyrotherapy. Liquid nitrogen or argon gas is inserted into the prostate the freeze the cancer cells to death. This technique produce high retention of erection function and minimal urinary side effects but since the technology is relatively new and uncommon, no long term data is available to evaluate its feasibility.

Apart from freezing the prostate cancer cells, patients can also heat it to death in a newer technology known as high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU). Like cyrotherapy, this procedure also involve delivering targeted medium (high energy sound wave) to the prostate using a endorectal probe.
